Dee Dee Ramone - Hop Around

Once again, as I said yesterday, thanks to everyone that gave ideas for themes. I will use them, just not this month. I came up with what I thought was a better idea. I'm not going to tell you what the theme is. At least not yet. You'll need to figure that out on your own. And, for the one or two of you that actually pay attention to this nonsense, you're going to think you know the theme after 3 or 4 posts. But maybe you don't....

Anyway, we get it started with the great Dee Dee Ramone. A punk rock legend. Well, if you don't count this. This turn of the century release is a perfect companion piece to your Ramones collection. Short blasts of punk the way Dee Dee did for decades. Well, if you don't count this.

Hey, Is Dee Dee Home?

  1. Is the theme "literally sniffing glue leads to making 'Funky Man', so don't do it"?

    2. Haha, I got 'Mutants Of The Monster' whenever you figure out how you want to get it. Dropbox? That sentence reads pretty homo-erotic like. How do you want your mutant?

    3. I'll mutate your monster! Yes I dropbox. Question - Have you achieved 'lordship' in some cases?

  2. I remember buying the Dee Dee King LP, and demanding a refund from the record store because they had filed it under punk. To be fair, it did have one actual punk song on it. RIP.

    1. It's either the worst masterpiece ever, or the best trainwreck ever

  3. For sheer out of your mind you think it might work? Or think the genre you helped pave ain't paying as much so lets do what this manager tell us?
Can sorta use the original TSOL for both examples.
Jack Grisham never gave a shit what others thought so the awful new romantic tinged Cathedral Of Tears is way up there but just as anotherJack experiment.
The remaining TSOL members did care and had drug habits to support, and although they were already headed down that path, Hit and Run was a crowning achievement of trying to sell out so bad it hurt.
    The cover itself screams it.
Junkyard is a close second...mostly of Brian Bakers involvement.
I could see a member of Decry hanging out at the Rainbow and a Big Boys member to make rent....but Brian Baker? From don't smoke, don't drink, don't fuck to "hey babe, what are ya drinking? Wanna go do some blow in the bathroom while ya blow me and admire my half leather tiger print leather and kick ass headband"?

    1. Oh yeah, think they had the same stylist. Wasn't Airborne the same? In hindsight those bands could have just weekend it until 93 / 94 rolled around so as not to seem like the bandwagon jumpers and go back to playing that dreaed punk shit when they wanted to be the Alarm,U2 Guns & Roses or YES in Bad Religions case.

    2. I don't really see the message in these statements? Are you condemning musicians for making dumb musical choices? Or, condemning musicians for attempting to sell out to have it fail? I just talked to my neighbor who knows fuck all about punk rock, and asked him what punk rock means to him. You know what he said? Rancid or Greenday.

    3. If a musician decides to make a musical choice and direction that is not at all popular or commercially viable more power to him/her. When you could care less after being Mr Preachy Bland Punker dude and now see CC Devile or Zack Wilde as a better role model to score that real estate deal, stock options and more opportunities to exploit my overinflated ego with a plastic surgery babe om my arm who will know her place. Since the odds of success is about the same as a Kirk Cameron movie breaking even...watching them fail is almost as good as that Kirk Cameron movie.
      So who did you choose?
      Rancid or Green Day?
Or way more underground like Total Chaos?
      See ya in da pit!

    4. I think that damned Leo Sayer is to blame for this. He inspired so many good musicians to sell out. I always say "It's better to sell out, then to buy in." Actually I don't think I've ever said that. I used to say "Little Debbie killed America", until I realized it was probably the indians that did that. The ones with feathers, not dots.

  4. Oh, before I forget...is there any way you can re-up that C2D cd that was corrupt?
    Thanks a million!
