V/A - Welcome To Venice

1985's Welcome To Venice EP contains one track by Suicidal Tendencies, plus 8 songs by 4 other bands that sound a lot like Suicidal Tendencies. Not saying that's bad, just sayin'. Venice was a punk metal paradise.

V/A - This Is Phoenix, Not The Circle Jerks

Phoenix label Placebo records is probably most known as the home for JFA. However, they released lots of cool stuff throughout the 80's. Their first compilation was the eclectic 'Amuck' in 1981. In 1984 they released their second Phoenix compilation. This one with a fantastic title and a slightly harder edge. Still some interesting stuff, tho.

V/A - 4 Bands That Could Change The World

7Seconds, White Flag, F & Adrenalin O.D. Not sure if any of these bands actually changed the world, but they did put out some good music. Personally I think the 7Seconds portion is a little weak. But other than that I think it's a fun and interesting comp. Some humorous and entertaining cover tunes too.

Bemisbrain Records released some decent stuff in the early 80's. Their 'claim to fame' was surely the classic 'Hell Comes To Your House' compilation. Here's another good compilation from 1985.

V/A - Buried Alive (The Best From Smoke 7 Records 1981-1983)

Smoke 7 released just a handful of records in the early 80's. Here's their brief description from that Facebook thingamajig:

DIY Punk label est. 1980. Primary home of RF7 but has also released music by Bad Religion, Redd Kross, JFA, MIA, Circle One, Genocide and more. Releases like the Public Service compilation in 1981& Redd Kross debut Born Innocent put Smoke 7 on the map.

And here's the labels 1983 released retrospective thingamajig.

V/A - First Strike - BCT #1

Bad Compilation Tapes released some 25 or so compilations throughout the early to mid 80's. This is the first, released in 1983 and featuring 9 US hardcore bands. It's a good collection.

BCT #1

I only ever heard a couple of them way back when.  I've decided to make it my quest to find all of them, and hopefully post them all here. But to do that I'm going to need your help. Besides this one of course I presently have #3 - Eat Me, #8 - Rattus and #10 = I'm Buck Naked. A slow start indeed. Can anyone help the good doctor?

V/A - American Hardcore Soundtrack

Since it's the Fourth of July, and all that nonsense, I figured a fitting post would be the soundtrack to the amazing movie 'American Hardcore'. If you haven't seen it by now, you really need to. And this soundtrack is an excellent representation of (as it says right there on the cover) the history of American Punk Rock.

V/A - Let's Die

Here's another Mystic compilation. Hell, I could probably fill up the month with Mystic comps. Maybe some other time. Anyway, this one was released in 1985 and has a good collection of bands, all with a slightly 'darker' feel.
