Tampere SS - Sotaa 7"

We complete our Nordic bookends weekend with Finland's Tampere S.S. Really cool hardcore. Unfortunately they weren't around for very long and don't have too much of a recorded history.

Sunnuntai-Ilta

1983 Revisited - Part 2

Today brings another heaping round of classics. This group bring some straight edge, some bent edge... and some MEAT!

Faith - Subject To Change

Government Issue - Boycott Stabb

The Meatmen - We're The Meatmen... And You Suck!!

Negative Approach - Tied Down

Nihilistics - Self-Titled

S.S.D. - Get It Away

Slam - Demo 1983

Slam were Swedish skate gods from the early 80's. This demo was I believe the first introduction of their recorded sound. Great stuff.

Polisnöje

Execute - Self-Titled 7"

What else happened in '83? The Execute started making our eardrums bleed. Their debut 7" was released and the world suddenly became a better place.

Go To Hell

Conflict - Last Hour

Not to be confused with the anarcho gods from the U.K., this Conflict was a fantastic hardcore band from Tucson, AZ. If you haven't heard these guys, and gal, you need this! Included is a great cover of 'American Woman'. I mean, not as good as the the Buttholes cover version, but whattryagonnado? Great band, great album

Living Off Mom

1983 Revisited - Part 1

So, by and large I try to only post releases once, unless they're reposts or for some other silly reason. Well this month I'll still do that, however there are SO DAMNED MANY classics from 1983 that need to be posted this month! That's what I'll be doing on Saturdays. I'm sure most of you will already have these in your collections in one form or another, but hopefully you'll be inspired to give 'em another listen. Because damn these deserve it!

Bad Brains - Rock For Light

The Exploited - Let's Start A War...

The F.U.'s - My America

Minor Threat - Out Of Step

Necros - Conquest For Death

Suicidal Tendencies - Self-Titled

V/A - The Blasting Concept

As we enter March we find our first 'guest theme'. Our old pal Rocko thought this a good idea and dammit I agree with him! The theme: 1983. Damn there were some great releases that year! I had thought it a decent idea to start with, take a year and focus on it, but when I started digging, holy shit Rocko is right! What a great year for hardcore! Thanks Rocko!

We begin with this great sampler from SST which somehow has never made an appearance on this blog. This comp gives you a great taste of the wide range of stuff SST was putting out in the early 80's.
