Broken Bones - Fuck You And All You Stand For!

We'll put the melodic punk back on the shelf and end the month with a bruising thrasher. Bones & Tezz left Discharge in 1983 to form Broken Bones. As with most bands it seems, there've been several stops and starts over the last 30 plus years. This is, I believe their latest full length release, from 2010. It took me a bit to get into it, but in the end, it rips.

Bad Religion - True North

And the melodic punk parade continues today. Bad Religion released this, their 16th album in 2013. The sound certainly doesn't break new ground. But if you like the band (and I do) it's a pretty damn good release. And it's just satisfying knowing that Greg Graffin, Ph.D still enjoys writing lyrics like "Just say fuck you. Whatcha gonna do with that attitude? Just say fuck you".

SNFU - Never Trouble Trouble Until Trouble Troubles You

There's been plenty of sizable bumps in the road, but SNFU have remained Canadian punk legends for some 35 years now (minus a couple years here and there). This is Mr. Chi Pig's 2013 release.

NOFX - Self/Entitled

Ok, by now everyone has an opinion about NOFX. Me, I like 'em. And although this 2013 release has everything you would expect in a NOFX release it falls a little flat for me. On their 2006 release Wolves In Wolves Clothing (haven't posted that one yet) they sing about only giving about 60 or so percent. That's actually kinda what it sounds like here. It's good, but nowhere near their best.

Suicidal Tendencies - 13

35 years on and Cyco Miko has managed to keep the Suicidal Train rolling in one form or another. This particular form only took about 10 years to record, finally seeing light in 2013. Although it might not contain the youth rage of their early stuff it is classic ST.

Social Unrest - Songs For Sinners 7"

We end the weekend with yet another band that I really loved back in the day. They seemed to keep coming and going since the early 80's. And this is their 2010 offering.

The Freeze - Blood Flows Home

Another old favorite today. The Freeze were easily my favorite Boston band (well, maybe tied with the F.U.'s). They disappeared somewhere around the turn of the century, but have reappeared with recordings and tours in recent years. Here's their 2011 EP.
