Youth Brigade - Sink With Kalifornija

In 1980 the Stern brothers, Shawn, Mark and Adam, formed Youth Brigade in Los Angeles. They also founded the prolific label Better Youth Organization. Over the next 15 years or so the band released several influential records and the label is still releasing music today. Damn, and to think me and my brother spent our formative "punk" years just sitting around drinking and getting high. The band released Sound & Fury, a friggin' masterpiece, in 1982. I was going to post that. They released a fantastic 7", What Price Happiness?, in 1984. I was going to post that. Instead, I decided to post 'Sink With Kalifornija', a 1994 compilation that contains both of those releases plus a killer live set. Why? because you guys are worth it!

  1. Awesome. I was always a fan of Youth Brigade. Somehow I hung out with them a couple of times. Once with SNFU and again the following year when they would come through Phoenix. I was just 15 or 16 and my girlfriend and I ended up at their hotel room at a notorious Phx party hotel where they were staying the night. They took us in their van and were really just the coolest dudes. Wasn't weird, they weren't interested in anything other than drinking a few beers with some locals and talking about punk rock.

The Sound & Fury tracks on this release are the re-recorded version. The original S&F is superior for me.

Thanks for this. Both are worth owning.
