Buck Satan & The 666 Shooters - Bikers Welcome Ladies Drink Free

Al Jourgensen. Thoughts? Me, I think he's pretty bad ass. And I've ended up liking most of what he's touched. That said, like him or not, he's had a tremendously diverse career. From Techno to Synthpop to (of course) Industrial to Metal to Punk, you name it. And now... Country. That's right, Country! In 2011 ol' Uncle Al got together with his usual menagerie of artists and put out this thoroughly entertaining Industrial Country (Heavy Western?) album.

Sleepless Nights And Bar Room Fights

*Spoiler Alert*
If there's absolutely nothing you like about today's post you might want to go ahead and take next month off. Spend some time with the family. Come on back in June. For those that are staying, may I just say... yee haw!

Gabba - Leave Stockholm

Now here is a BRILLIANT idea. And all it took was five blokes (actually four blokes and a bird) to realize that removing just one letter from the Ramones chant became something entirely different. Abba meets the Ramones in what I think is a fantastic tribute to both.

Surf Punks - My Beach

Well, spring still hasn't sprung here at home, so to take our minds off of it let's head to the beach. Not sure what the story is behind these new wave goofballs but I always kinda liked this album. If nothing else for its sheer silliness. And isn't that what this month is all about?

Dick Nixons - Paint The White House Black

Everyone has ideas once in a while, right? Some good, some bad. Well in the early nineties a few guys thought this was a good idea. A star Spangled tribute to America's 37th President. It's fun, I'll give you that. And, to quote something I learned from a Butthole Surfers album, 'it's better to regret something you have done, than regret something you haven't done.'

Bob Log III - Log Bomb

Ok, maybe this isn't the typical hardcore stuff you usually find around here. Hell it's not even the typical punk stuff. But I defy anyone to listen to this and not have a good time. For those that don't know, Bob Log III is a one man band from Tucson, AZ. It's not easy classifying the music. Wikipedia says it's "a blues punk guitar dance party". I'd say that's close. Give it a shot. I promise you won't be disappointed. But if you are, I'll give you your money back.

Intense Mutilation - Safe Sex

So, it was some time in '89 or '90 that I stumbled upon this slab in the local record shop. As the cover screamed 'offensive' I obviously had to buy it. And then somewhere along the way it was forgotten about. Until the digital age, that is. I managed to stumble upon (I certainly seem to do a bunch of stumbling) a few songs to download. So I figured the best thing to do was ask you fine folks for a complete copy. And of course you didn't disappoint. But even more, I learned these guys have put out a number of things, all the way to 2004 in fact. I'm thinking the joke might've gone on a bit too long. Irregardless, here's their full length debut.

El Duce - Karaoke King I & II

I've got no information for today's post. I downloaded these somewhere along the way and haven't bothered to research. But here's what I've gathered. Apparently some irresponsible people got hold of a karaoke machine and thought it a swell idea to pump El Duce full of alcohol and record what happened when the two collided. Not once, but TWICE!! Great immature fun as El absolutely destroys the hits.

ANTiSEEN Covers Blowfly Covering ANTiSEEN Split 7"

Sadly, we lost the legendary Blowfly last year. But before he left us he put together a very entertaining PUNK ROCK PARTY. Included was a cover of an ANTiSEEN classic. So, after the two titans toured together in '08 they released a split 7". And, as the title states, ANTiSEEN covers Blowfly's cover. Plus Blowfly includes one of his funky, offensive tracks,

Mr. Epp - Ridiculing The Apocalypse

We've got a noisy one to start the week. To be fair, this was intended to be posted last week, after the Stick Men. But instead, I have it here to start your week off on the wrong foot. So we all know what happened in Seattle in the late 80's/early 90's, right? Well, before all that could happen the guys had to start somewhere. For Mudhoney it was Mr. Epp & The Calculations in the very early 80's. This 1996 release highlights what I would assume all of their "studio" work plus lots of live nonsense. Clearly the boys had a long way to go, but their sense of humor was firmly intact.

Jesus Skins + Jewdriver - Split

Well now here's something you don't see every day. A couple things, really. A split including Germany's Jesus Skins and America's Jewdriver. The Jesus Skins are... wait for it... an ultra christian skinhead oi band. The title of their half of the release apparently translates into a reference to a religious parable. I read somewhere the tracks themselves are reworkings of classic German HC tunes, with revised, christian lyrics. Bet you didn't expect that here, did you? Now the second half, that's where my money's at. Jewdriver is bunch of Oakland scenesters that got together to form a Skrewdriver tribute band. The catch, all the lyrics are very pro-judaism and Jewish lifestyle. Pastrami On Rye, Our Blame Is Goyim Glee, you get the picture.

Punks Not Dad - We Are The Dads

In 2008 four old blokes from Wales decided to get off their arse and play some 70's style punk. Of course, they write about things that punks of a certain age can relate to: selling out (of their favorite products at the shop), being banned from the pub (for being too old), and of course Gaye Advert. Plenty of classic punk riffs throughout as well. It's certainly a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Manic Hispanic - Mijo Goes To Jr. College + Grupo Sexo

Ok, I'm back, so let's have some fun this weekend! Manic Hispanic is a "punk rock super group", originally formed in 1992 by Steve Soto and recently departed "Gabby" Gaborno. Think Angry Snowmans, but instead of Christmas the punk rock classics are given a Chicano reworking. Oh, and they also started some 20 years earlier. Fantastic stuff!

Stick Men With Ray Guns - Some People Deserve To Suffer

Time for some "down home devil worship" today. Straight outta Texas.'Who are they?' you might ask. Well, I'll let their website tell you that:

SMWRG was performance art. We used extreme methods to point out the irrationality of life, hatred, violence and racism. Although obviously based around front man Bobby Soxx, SMWRG soon developed an unusual stage persona, one with no pretense of rationality. We simply let the band seek its own level, and that level was strange indeed.

What you hear with SMWRG is exactly what we wanted to do together. We could not have cared less if it was popular or if it ever made any money. I wish that more bands felt that way, maybe their music would be more interesting.

They were indeed noisy, confrontational, and more than a little blasphemous. Just the way I like it! Sadly, outside of a few compilation appearances they never had a proper release during their run. This 2002 release is a collection of goodies from the early days. Suck on that, Jesus!

Rudimentary Peni - Pope Adrian 37th Psychristiatric

Alot of the early 80's 'anarcho' bands certainly developed their own unique sounds. Rudimentary Peni was certainly no different. And by that I mean they were VERY different. That said, this is their 'most different' recording. Or at least the most different I've heard. Legend has it that RP lead singer Nick Blinko wrote this while being detained in a psychiatric hospital. One listen makes that very believable. Most of the songs are by and large the title repeated over and over again. All the while the words "Papas Adrianus" is repeated in the background throughout the entire release. Very interesting indeed.

9353 - To Whom It May Consume

9353 is a group of weirdos from D.C. One of those bands that's very hard to classify. This is their entertaining (and strange) 1984 debut.

Areola 51 - Self-Titled

For obvious reasons, today's post is dedicated to our good friend Col. Edward Karuthers. Not necessarily for the music, but for one other (rather large) reason.

Anyway, one of the many good things about the Butthole Surfers is the fact that the core members did plenty of interesting side projects. On this one Butthole bassist Jeff Pinkus gets together with Scratch Acid guitarist Brett Bradford and one time Ministry member Max Brody for a very interesting ride.

Butthole Surfers - Good King Wencenslaus 7"

Now you know damn good and well that I couldn't do an April Foolish Month without the Kings of Weird. Only a single today, but it's a great one. A classic Christmas song is pretty much bastardized by the buttholes here, with Gibby's "drunken rambling" drowning out a rather normal rendition of the song. Pure enjoyment! And the second side treats us to an excellent version of The Lord Is A Monkey.

GG Allin - War In My Head - I'm Your Enemy

Ok, we start by rather foolishly posting GG Allin for the THIRD time in a week. Yes that's excessive, but this one needs to be here, because it's even weird for GG. Released in 1993, it's about 45 glorious minutes of GG's spoken word over top of grinding and sometimes jarring music from the band Shrinkwrap. Interesting to say the least. Ok, I promise no more GG for a while.

I'm The Leading Man

April

As the calendar turns we find ourselves smack dab in the middle of another April Fools' Day. So I figured, why not make it a whole month? So this month I'll be posting releases that, well, are a little different from the norm in one way or another. So watch your back, because this month we're April Foolish!
