The Lewd - Kill Yourself... Again

The month ends with S.F. punk legends The Lewd and their own brand of "insanitainment". Originally forming in Seattle, they moved to Frisco in '79. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Nothing much to say here but Classic L.A. Punk. Period. This isn't quite all their songs, but it's close.

Willful Neglect - 1982-1984

This post is for my old pal Francisco. He's been begging for this one. Willful Neglect came from St Paul, Minnesota. They started in 1981 and released two great EPs before splitting in '84. Apparently a 3rd (less hardcore) album was recorded but never released. Six songs from that LP can be found on this 2003 comp, as well as both their 12" EPs. Great band playing some tight hardcore. Enjoy one and all... but mostly Francisco!

Death Piggy - Smile Or Die!!!

Before Gwar there was Death Piggy. Wacky, goofy, silly Death Piggy. Here's the collection of all 3 7"s they released. Interesting to say the least. Mayonnaise!

U.S. Chaos - Complete Chaos

Another band that had an all too brief recorded history was U.S.Chaos. And here it is. All 8 songs. Along with two live tracks and 3 songs from their late 90's rebirth. They did release a new LP after this as well as a split 7", but I haven't heard them yet. Let's see if anyone out there can help the good doctor change this.

White Cross - Deaf, Dumb & Blind

Richmond, Virginia's White Cross had an all too brief history in the early 80's. They released a good 7" in 1982 and a great 12" in 1983. And then they were gone. Most moving on to one of my personal favorites, Mudd Helmüt. In 1995 the great Grand Theft Audio released this CD which contains the 7" and the 12" along with (say it with me now) some demo and live tracks. However, what makes this collection great is the inclusion of their unreleased LP.

F.U.'s - The Origin Of The Straw Dogs + Revenge

Boston legends The F.U.'s released some classic early 80's hardcore before becoming the slower, more rockin' Straw Dogs in the mid 80's. The early 90's saw two releases that chronicled their history. The first contains 'Kill For Christ', comp tracks and an entire live show from 1984. The second has their 2 full length releases.

Sheer Terror - Bulldog Edition

Sheer Terror played HEAVY punk rock outta NYC. Heavy sludge with metal riffs and the melodic tones of the Rev. Paul Bearer. Great stuff. In 2000 they released this 2 disc set, featuring a couple of their early releases as well as extras.

Articles Of Faith - Complete

Straight from Chicago, Illinois is Articles Of Faith. The band existed between 1981 & 1986. In 2002 2 discs were released containing everything. From their AMAZING '82 debut 7" 'What We Want Is Free', straight thru to their swan song, the somewhat disappointing (in my opinion) 'In This Life'. Regardless, this is a must have.

Decry - Complete Decry 82-86

Here's the complete works of LA's Decry. Their debut 7", their masterpiece 'Falling' and their metal turn 'Japanese', plus comp tracks and live stuff too. A good collection.

Gay Cowboys In Bondage - The Complete Silly Discography

Gay Cowboys In Bondage were yet another great Florida hardcore band. They can be best described with one word: silly. I mean, it's right there in the title of the CD. Fun stuff.

YDI - Out For Blood

YDI were bad ass mofos outta Philly. And here's their complete recorded output. Their ripping 1983 7", their two tracks from the Get Off My Back comp, demo tracks from '83 and their widely criticized '85 LP. Speaking of that LP, I found this comment on a more reputable blog. I can neither confirm nor deny its validity, but I think it is worth noting:

Being from Philly and from being familiar with Y-DI, the reason the Black Dust album sounds like it does is that “black dust” was a drug concoction that consisted of PCP, heroin and formaldehyde which was soaked onto parsley flakes and smoked. The members of the band regularly partaked in this drug and the music on this record was written under the influence.

Wow!

Personally, I like the LP. It's a slab of heavy Grade A sludge.

Social Unrest - The Complete Studio Recordings

Another band that may not have gained as much notoriety as G.B.H., but is still a great band is San Francisco's Social Unrest. In 1995 they released this 2 disc collection that, at the time, encompassed their original 8 year run. They reformed in the mid 90's and a couple more releases have followed.

G.B.H. - Race Against Time - The Complete Clay Recordings

Anybody hear of these guys? Of course you have. We all have. Hell, they're still going strong. Their first releases were on Clay Records. Not actual records made of clay (they're not THAT old!), but the seminal U.K. label Clay. In 2007 all these releases were packed into a massive 3 disc release. A must have, indeed!

Circle One - Are You Afraid?

By request, here's L.A.'s Circle One. An account of their all too brief history can be found HERE.

The Fix - At The Speed Of Twisted Thought

Mean Michigan punks The Fix only released a couple 7"s in their too brief existence. Lucky for us Touch & Go slapped both of them on a CD. Plus they included demos and live tracks. Awesome!!

Anti - The Hardcore Years

Here's some great L.A. hardcore today. Anti released 3 records, all on their own label New Underground. Grand Theft Audio put them all on one CD in 1997. Get it now!

Condemned 2 Death - You Can't Kill A Vat Rat!

For those that don't know, The Vat was an old abandoned brewery in SF that punks/bands began squatting in. C2D was among them. Here's a great comp featuring both official releases as well as demos and live stuff.

Negative Approach - Total Recall

Hard to believe this powerhouse band only released two EPs. Both classics. Both included on this 1992 compilation. There's also plenty of powerful live stuff. Apparently there was an old unreleased EP that found the light of day a few years ago. Does anyone out there have that one? I'd love to hear it. Thanks.

Bad Posture - G.D.M.F.S.O.B.

San Francisco greats Bad Posture only released one 8 song 12" during their run. That is here along with comp tracks, demos and live stuff too. Great collection.

The Nig-Heist - Snort My Load

Welcome to 2014! I enjoyed December. Lotsa posts! I'll continue the theme (sort of) this month. As the Compact Disc Age dawned plenty of bands were able to put their complete collection on one or two discs. And that's where our focus lies this month. And we're kicking it off with our old pals Nig-Heist. Back in the late 90's this CD was released, and back in late 2013 I got a request for it. And I'm finally getting around to posting it. Released as a two CD set, the second disc is an hour long compilation of charming live material.
