Venerable fanzine Maximum Rock 'N' Roll started as a radio show in the early 80's. In 1982 Tim Yohannon got together with Jello Biafra and released the first issue of MRR in the 'Not So Quiet On The Western Front' compilation. A fantastic lineup of 47 bands, mostly from California. If you've never heard this record before, where the hell were you?!
By 1984 MRR was a hardcore staple. They releaased their second comp that year. This one featuring 23 bands, onlt 2 of which were from the U.S. This is a good international compilation.
