V/A - Oops! Wrong Stereotype

One more compilation for the month. And why don't we end January just like we ended December - weirdly. Alternative Tentacles put out 'Oops! Wrong Stereotype' in 1988. It does contain some good hardcore from Nomeansno, punk from Christian Lunch, noise from Tragic Mulatto, funk from the Beatnigs, and spoken word from Jello Biafra. As well as other stuff. My favorite is the track from Alice Donut.

  1. Hi, this is such a wonderfull album. Any chance you give it a try at a higher bitrate?
Thanks for sharing your collection, anyway!

  2. Hey there; eternal thanks for hosting this, I bought the LP in the late 80s/early 90s maybe? And I no longer have a record player, and it's been impossible to track down online... One small problem however! Track 2 isn't "Love Thang" at all, but a version of "Hunt The She Beast" also by NoMeansNo. As I recall, the Oops! Versions are slightly different from the other Album versions (Lisa's Father here is slightly shorter, and edited for instance)... is it possible to re-rip track 2 "Love Thang" and upload it again please?

And just in case anyone was wondering, the Alice Donut track is a more or less straight reading of a now discontinued Chick Track; but you can see here it here. "Oh Really?" indeed.

  4. Cannot believe it is 27 years since I bought this album! In fact I had totally forgot about it until I was discussing old bands with someone and I mentioned I used to follow No Means No and The Beatnigs on every tour date when they came to the UK and how I used to love this album.

Unfortunately, my vinyl collection is long gone and as this seems to be the only place on the net where a rip was available - would it be possible to post it again?

Actually, the Alice Donut track was my favourite too!

  7. Do you still have this? This album was big for me in my formative years - I would love to hear it again. I tried finding all the songs individually with no luck. Anyhow, if you still have it to reupload, I would really appreciate it!
